Legacy
We are dedicated to creating lasting tributes that celebrate the lives and preserve the memories of those laid to rest in our grounds.
Our story
Sunset Memorial Park & Cremation Gardens started when Jack and Edith Harmon of Huff-Cook Mutual Burial Association purchased farmland across from Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church on April 17th, 1961. The land on State Route 91 in Damascus Virginia was purchased from Roy & Nelly Trent and James & Gracie Trent. Years later, the cemetery was sold to Bob and Nell Johnson, the former owners of Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral home was subsequently acquired by Richard Tetrick and Sid Oakley on July 1st, 1988 and is known today as Garrett Funeral Home. Sunset Memorial Park & Cremation Gardens has been honored to serve the families of Damascus and the surrounding communities for over sixty years.
